Not really. The last 7 km to Prashar Lake is unpaved, steep and narrow, with loose gravel in patches. A WagonR will struggle and you risk scraping the underside. We strongly recommend a Bolero, Scorpio or Thar for Prashar, and drivers who've done the descent in low gear rather than riding the brakes.

Yes, and we treat it as a full-day booking. The Mandi–Jogindernagar road via Drang is around 55 km but takes close to two hours. If you're continuing to Barot, add another 35 km of narrow ghat road — an SUV is the right call, and we won't send a sedan on that stretch.

The Pandoh–Aut stretch is landslide-prone, especially July to September. If the highway is blocked, our Mandi vendors will reroute via the Mandi–Kullu alternative road or hold the car until BRO clears it. You're not charged extra for a forced reroute — we'd rather you arrive late than not at all.

Yes. Bhuntar (Kullu–Manali Airport) is about 60 km from Mandi, so for a 7 AM flight we pick up around 4:30 AM. The road via Kullu is fine at that hour — the real risk is fog near Pandoh in December and January, so we pad the timing by 30 minutes in winter.

Some vendors offer self-drive, but we generally steer visitors towards chauffeur-driven in Mandi. The town's bazaar lanes around Indira Market are one-way and congested, parking near Victoria Bridge is scarce, and hill driving on NH3 is a different skill from plains driving. A local driver saves you both the stress and the parking fines.

IIT Mandi's Kamand campus is about 14 km from Mandi town, on the Mandi–Bajaura road. We do regular pickups for parents and faculty, usually a sedan or premium sedan for a half-day. The road is decent but has a few blind curves, so we assign drivers who know the stretch.
