List All Equipment
Note down every appliance, machine, or light you need to run simultaneously. Include starting surge current for motors and ACs (typically 2–3× running wattage).
Add Up Total Watts
Sum the running wattage of all equipment. For ACs and motors, multiply by 2.5 for starting load. This gives you total watts needed.
Convert to KVA
Divide total watts by 1000 to get kW. Divide kW by 0.8 (power factor) to get KVA. Add 20% safety buffer. That is your generator size.
