Hey there! I’m Rohit Desai from Ahmedabad. Last weekend, I had the coolest day traveling with my big, fun-loving family of six to the Statue of Unity. We booked a cab with TransRentals to make it easy and comfy, and let me tell you, it was a decision well made!

Kickoff at Dawn

We hit the road early, around 6 AM, to avoid the usual traffic and make the most of the day. The kiddos were half-asleep, snuggled up with their favorite blankets and books in the back seat, while my parents reminisced about the old days. Mr. Patel, our driver, was a gem—chatty and full of interesting facts about the places we zoomed past.

First Stop: Sardar Sarovar Dam

Our first major stop was at the Sardar Sarovar Dam. Man, the view there was something else! You could see the massive reservoir stretching out, a testament to some serious engineering. We snapped some family pics with the water in the backdrop before heading to the main event.

Wow Factor at the Statue of Unity

And there it was, the Statue of Unity! Standing tall at 182 meters, it’s like nothing you’ve seen before—towering in grandeur. We headed up to the viewing gallery, and the scene from there was just breathtaking—lush greenery everywhere, thanks to the monsoon doing its magic.

Down at the base, this cool museum walks you through Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s crucial role in shaping modern India. Even the kids were glued to the exhibits, which isn’t a small feat, let me tell you!

Lunch Time!

By lunchtime, we were all starving. We hit the nearby food court and dove straight into some classic Gujarati dishes—khichdi and kadhi topped off with some sweet treats. It was simple but super tasty and gave us all the boost we needed for the next part of our adventure.

Exploring More: Valley of Flowers & Cactus Garden

Post-lunch, we stretched our legs in the Valley of Flowers. It’s a massive space with flowers that are just, wow, so vibrant and pretty! The Cactus Garden was equally impressive, with all sorts of spiky friends from around the globe. The kids got a kick out of that, and my wife, who loves gardening, was buzzing with ideas for our backyard.

Chilling by the Narmada

Before we knew it, it was time to head back. But first, we chilled for a bit by the Narmada River. Sitting there, with the water gently flowing and the statue in the distance, was the perfect spot to wrap up our day.

The Ride Home

The ride back was about chatting over the day’s highlights and planning where to venture next. The kids passed out soon after, dreams of the day playing in their heads, no doubt. And as Ahmedabad’s lights welcomed us back, we all felt that happy tired you get after a well-done day.

Wrapping Up

So, that was our fab trip to the Statue of Unity! A whole day of exploring, learning, and being together as a family. Thanks to TransRentals for the smooth ride and to Mr. Patel for being such a great guide. Can’t wait for our next family outing—maybe you’ll hear all about that one, too!
